Meet Mich

Mich's (she/her) heart is rooted in physiological birth and postpartum care. She first discovered her devotion to birth with her first pregnancy. As a filmmaker and writer, she lived abroad "country hopping" making film projects. When she and her partner became pregnant, she decided to seek prenatal care in different countries. She was fascinated not only by the differences among how providers deliver healthcare but also by how each culture views the physiological process of birth.

She sought prenatal care in Thailand, Hungary, and France and was struck by the contrast between how these cultures embraced birth compared to the views she was surrounded by growing up in the United States. She likes to share what she learned in France - that the word for "midwife" in French means "wise woman" (sage femme). This encapsulates Mich's thoughts on what midwives, doulas, and pregnant people all bring to the table when it comes to birth and the postpartum period - wisdom.

Mich enjoys playing music (piano, guitar, banjo) and hiking with her family.
