Meet Kristin

Kristin (she/her) hails from Illinois. She moved to Metro Nashville Area in May of 2022 from Austin, Texas and has quickly made it home.

Kristin has been in the public health/HIV Prevention field for 10 years with an emphasis in connecting LGBTQIA+ folks and Black women to resources bridging an ever-widening gap. Kristin has spent time providing, advocating and expanding HIV/STI testing/Sexual Wellness services to the greater Austin Metropolitan area through the local health department and community-based organizations.

Kristin began her career working at an urban core hospital getting underserved folks connected to affordable care and increasing health equity in the hospital systems through a non-profit organization. This work sparked a passion for community advocacy. Birthwork and sexual wellness is health equity, therefore the incorporation of her two passions just made sense. She has also enjoyed providing couples/families with nonjudgmental sex-positive support over the years regardless of relationship style.

Kristin trained with Doula Training International as a Full Spectrum Doula. Kristin completed her undergraduate degree at Spelman College in Psychology, and has a Master of Public Health from Saint Louis University in Behavioral Science and Health Education.

In her free time, she is tending to her houseplant collection, gardening, crafting or enjoying a good cup of tea/coffee.

I can not rave enough about East Nashville Doulas or our Postpartum Doula Kristin.

From beginning to end it was amazing. Andrea set everything up. Talking to her on the phone initially, I was very nervous, but she answered all my questions and continuously answered any we had during our time .

Our postpartum doula, Kristin was the very best. At our first meeting, I instantly knew I made the right decision. She was perfect so very kind and easy to talk to. I had a very traumatic birth and many times I would cry or be upset about it reliving the trauma. And each time she came over she let me vent out my frustration and emotions and just let me know it was okay to feel those feelings as many times as I needed to. I joked with my partner the doula was more for me than the baby. She was just a great emotional support and I really believe she gave me the freedom to express my fears and wishes without judgement made the healing process so much easier.

She also was great for any questions I had if she didn’t have the answer she would get me the resources. She was also amazing with our baby. They quickly became best friends, and I would say the baby would only be fussy with me and be an angel when Kristin was around. She even made me lactation cookies that were amazing. I highly recommend her to every mom. And I will be making sure to use her for birth and postpartum next time I have a child!

We were thrilled with our decision to utilize East Nashville Doulas for postpartum support. After having our first child at the start of the pandemic, we knew we both needed and wanted extra hands as we welcomed our second child. Our postpartum doula, Kristin, was an amazing resource for our family. She provided me with emotional and household support, while also helping every member of our family settle into our new normal. She did everything from feeding, rocking, and bathing our newborn, to baking muffins and playing play-doh with our three year old. Her last shift was during my husband’s first work trip away from home. I couldn’t have made it through the week without her. We highly recommend using Kristin and East Nashville Doulas!
