Meet Julie
Julie (she/her) is a Lebanon, Tennessee native, and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. Her background is in healthcare administration, human resources, and financial services. She and her husband Jerad lived in Los Angeles for six years before moving back home to TN in 2016. After dealing with health issues for much of her 20s and 30s, she didn’t think having a family would be a possibility. The biggest surprise of her life was discovering she was pregnant at age 35. Julie’s heart was cracked wide open with the birth of her son, Hugo, in 2019. She never imagined how difficult making the transition to being a parent without a “village” could be, especially when most of her peers had kids in middle school.
When some of her closest friends announced their pregnancies, she offered to help prepare them for what to expect when giving birth and going through the postpartum period. Being a calming and reassuring anchor as they navigated through this timeframe was such a rewarding experience, and felt like a true calling. After recognizing she could no longer deny this calling, Julie took the leap at becoming certified in birth work.
Julie is certified as a Postpartum and Infant Care Doula through ProDoula, and is working to complete her Trauma-Informed Doula certification. She is also training for a Birth & Bereavement Doula certification, so she can better support parents who are experiencing miscarriage and stillbirth.
Julie and her family reside in Donelson. In her free time, she loves to read, explore nature, travel (especially to national parks and deserts), and visit art galleries.
