Meet Janina

JaNina (she/her) has been passionate about birth work since her teenage years. As the eldest daughter of five siblings, she helped my single mother manage childcare tasks such as bottle feedings, diaper changes, baby stimulation, and many other day-to-day needs.

Later on, she made an intentional commitment to extend support outside of her own immediate family and has dedicated her life to doing so. She has helped numerous family members navigate childbirth by providing physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational support. She has marveled at how beautiful yet taxing the birthing experience can be for mothers, birthing persons/bodies and the family as a whole, and she is excited to help support more families as they bring forth new life.

As a doula, her goal is to empower expectant families as they bring new life into the world, and it is her pleasure to offer them empathy, compassion, education, and a sense of peace throughout the birthing process. She also believes everyone deserves high quality care regardless of race, sexual identity, religion, gender identity, income, and other factors that commonly influence one’s health care. Therefore, she sees it as her duty to help advocate for the families she serves and takes pride in doing so.

She joins others who believe doulas are not made but born. Her innate gifts of caretaking and being emotionally present prepared her to be a doula far before her training. Now, she is excited to combine both as she supports mothers, birthing persons/bodies and the entire family during the vulnerable journey of pregnancy and parenthood.

Outside of birth work, she is a Certified Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, and Patient Service Specialist in Nashville, TN. She enjoys serving at her church, Wellsprings Worship Center, volunteering for homeless communities, singing, dancing (particularly ballroom and Zumba), and spending quality time with family, friends, and her precious cat, Princess!
