Katherine (or "Kat" as she is also called) grew up in Maine where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition. She moved to Nashville in 2015 with her husband Wilson, working in healthcare and medical research for several years before transitioning to doula work full-time.
Kat found her calling for birth work after she moved to Nashville, and completed her DONA training as a birth doula and postpartum doula in 2018. She is also a certified childbirth educator through the Academy of Certified Birth Educators. Kat takes a direct approach to helping families prepare for birth and postpartum. A natural-born planner, Kat is careful to provide clients information about all their options - discussing what parents can expect when their time comes.
Kat’s passion for helping others navigate the reproductive process and providing access to evidence-based information was strengthened after experiencing the loss of her first pregnancy. She knows first-hand how important it is to have personalized support and up-to-date information, regardless of pregnancy outcome.
Kat's deep compassion for birthing families shines in her work. She brings a calm, grounded energy to the birth space and to folks’ homes. Her clients benefit from her ability to facilitate communication and understanding between families and their medical providers.
When Kat is not supporting and educating families, she enjoys trying out the local breweries in town with her husband, exploring nearby hiking trails, cooking, & crafting.
