Meet jamina

Born and raised in Tennessee, Jamina has called Nashville home for many years. In her early 30‘s, she spent time exploring the states, along with some travel abroad.

While in massage school, Jamina felt a pull towards supporting pregnant people through their journey into motherhood. She took that passion and extended her education to become a CAPPA birth doula. As much as she loved the excitement of birth, she felt that she could have more of an impact on families during those first precious months postpartum. So, in 2012, she trained as a CAPPA postpartum doula, and began serving the Nashville area in that role. After the birth of her daughter in 2014, and with the rise of awareness around the benefit of postpartum doulas, her business, Momma Soulshine, began to thrive.

Over the years as a birth worker, Jamina has witnessed the strong need for solid lactation support. In September of 2017, she expanded her knowledge around this topic and trained as a CAPPA lactation educator. It has been extremely helpful to have additional tools to pass onto parents, both prenatally and postpartum as they navigate this important time. Jamina is thrilled to offer her services as a postpartum doula & educator with East Nashville Doulas. She is currently offering private and group classes to prepare you and your home for those first 3 months, also known as “The Fourth Trimester”.

Families report that Jamina’s calming presence, and gift of teaching and trouble-shooting has made their transition with their newborn smoother than they expected. Her intention is always to educate and empower parents, and provide them with the necessary tools to navigate the waters of early parenting.

Jamina lives in East Nashville with her sweet and spunky daughter, Simone. When she is not supporting families, you might find her hiking in the woods, seeing live music, traveling, or sharing a meal out and about in one of Nashville’s many delightful restaurants. You might have also seen her associated with Herman’s Journey, a children’s book written by Jamina and her dear friend. This tale chronicles the adventures of a hitchhiking caterpillar, who reminds us all to “Trust the Process”.
