Hi, I'm Andrea Hewitt.
I can't wait to be a part of your birth team!
I became a doula because of my strong belief that all pregnant people should give birth where they feel most comfortable and safe, surrounded by skillful and compassionate support.
I have attended hospital births, midwife-assisted home births, VBACs, and cesarean births. My clients describe me as calming, a good communicator, knowledgeable, and steady in the birth space. I bring over twenty years of professional experience as a teacher, writer, and university administrator to my role as your doula. Top-notch organization & multi-tasking skills, the ability to attune to my clients' needs, and a strong focus on providing the educational resources that my clients want--this is what you'll get when you hire me.
I cherish the deep relationships that I build with my clients, and I believe that is why they hire me--for that trusted connection that weaves through all of our prenatal meetings, phone calls, emails, and texts. It's this connection that allows me to serve my clients so well during the intensity that is labor and birth!
I work with a few selected, experienced back-up doulas who share my philosophy of care, and you have the opportunity to meet with your back-up doula before your birth.
My experience and credentials include:
Certified Birth Doula, DONA (2017)
Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator (2017)
Spinning Babies training (2016)
Infant & Adult CPR certified (2016)
Hypno-Doula training with Hypnobabies (2016)
Nashville Birth Collective, Founding Board President (2017)
Volunteer Doula with Nashville Volunteer Doula Program (Vanderbilt University Medical Center) (2015-present)
BA & MA (English, 1989 & 1991)
I live in East Nashville with my partner, Rachel, and our rescue dogs, Moses & Murray. I have two grown children who are the joys of my life.
Let me help you and your partner create
your best birth experience!
